Back to School Supply Drive kicks off at SafePlace

Almost 40% of SafePlace campus residents are children. In order to make the first day of school a little less stressful, SafePlace is holding a Back to School Supply Drive. Many of the children on our campus attend the George M. Kozmetsky Charter School at SafePlace, while others continue to attend the schools in which they were enrolled. Issues of homelessness, unemployment and lack of resources can make it exceedingly difficult for parents recovering from violence to provide all the necessary school supplies for his or her children. Your contribution can greatly lessen the strain on these families.

SafePlace is looking for donations of the following:
• Backpacks
• Pens (blue, black, & red)
• Markers
• Pencil sharpeners (handheld)
• Pencil pouches
• Composition books (wide ruled)
• Construction paper
• Folders (with and without brads)
• Large Pink Erasers
• 1st grade paper (Handwriting Paper)
• Watercolors
• Colored pencils
• Glue Sticks
• Scissors
• Highlighters
• Plastic Supply Boxes
• Dividers
• Calculators
• Tissues
• Hand Sanitizer
• Gallon Ziplock Bags
**All items can be found on our Amazon Wishlist**

We are encouraging donors to hold supply drives in their school, workplace and community centers. Then drop them off at the SafePlace campus by August 8th. Donations can be brought directly to the SafePlace Warehouse. Contact Erin Cooper with any questions or concerns.

we were going to drop off a lot of school supplies at the warehouse Friday around 10 AM. We also have donations of food, clothing, and household things. I received many donations from a friends storage that I do not have time to wash before dropping off to you. Are you able to wash items?
I have children’s toys that I don’t know if you would like and I have some parenting books that I am wondering if you would take.
    Thank you

Thank you so much for your generous donation! There will be volunteers, as well as staff, at the warehouse every day from 10 am to 3 pm when you come to drop off your donation. We can definitely take the books, toiletry samples, and toys, but we cannot accept unwashed clothing unfortunately.

  2. In addition to clothes, I have a double stroller in perfect condition. Also a Bjorn step stool and training potty. All absolutely clean. Do you need?

  3. Hello! I still have a lot of school supplies I have been meaning to donate, I just didn’t have a chance to bring by in August. Do you sill want them (for me to drop off soon) or rather me hold on until next year?

    • Hi Leslie, Please feel free to drop them off whenever you want. We constantly have new families coming in that need school supplies so we’ll be able to use them throughout the year. Thanks!
