SAFE needs food donations in time for the holidays

boxes and crates of food donations such as sugar, butter, fruit, and canned goods

Fall is typically the time of year when families gather to celebrate the holidays together, with giant meals and the expectation of a new year approaching. While the families that we serve at The SAFE Alliance have these opportunities to gather and dream as well, for many the idea of having a holiday meal is out of reach.

By contributing a meal kit to SAFE this fall, or even just a few items from the following list, you are providing an opportunity for a mother in the SafePlace Emergency Shelter to make a home-cooked meal for her children for Thanksgiving. You are also allowing a vulnerable family from one of SAFE’s community outreach programs the opportunity to gather and bond over their favorite foods. Please consider donating a Fall Meal Kit, which includes the following items:

  • Gift card to HEB or Walmart to purchase a turkey
  • Boxed meals like Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, Chicken Helper, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, etc.
  • Dessert mix
  • Rice
  • Beans
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Oatmeal or cereal
  • Gluten free and vegan options
  • Canned soup
  • Canned corn
  • Boxed rice (white rice preferred)

Directions to SAFE Donation Warehouse

Take East Riverside Drive from I-35 approximately 2.5 miles to Grove Boulevard. Take a left (north) on Grove Boulevard. As you drive past the large black fence on Grove, turn into the driveway at 1515-A Grove Blvd. The SAFE Warehouse is on your left and the Resource Center is on your right.

If it’s more convenient to drop off items at Austin Children’s Shelter, we will also accept them there. Items can be delivered to 4800 Manor Road, Building A, Austin, Texas 78723 during office hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday).

If you have any questions about items for SafePlace, please email Erin Cooper.  If you have questions about items for ACS, please email Lindsay Contreras. Thank you for supporting the families we serve!

It is crucial to The SAFE Alliance that we provide the safety and counseling so many of the survivors and families we serve need in order to live happy, healthy lives. It is equally important that they are given opportunities to bond and heal with their loved ones. By gifting our clients a holiday meal this fall, you are supporting programming that gives SAFE clients the chance for autonomy, choice, and healing.
