First off, thank you to all of our magnificent donors and friends who made our annual Celebration Luncheon on Oct. 6 such a huge success! We can’t wait to see you at our evening Gala on Nov. 4!
Because of our generous community, this year’s Celebration raised more than $320,000!
The luncheon focused on the story of Courtney Santana, a courageous survivor who came to the Family Shelter with her two children when they were 18 months and 3 years old. Courtney is now a musician, speaker, advocate, and the founder of Survive2Thrive, a nonprofit that connects survivors of domestic abuse with housing resources.
We also gave a Guardian Award to longtime donors James Armstrong and Larry Connelly, who have been steadfast community supporters and agreed to accept the award this past summer. Unfortunately, James passed away unexpectedly just two months ago and Larry accepted the award for both of them.
It was a remarkable event and a true reminder of the strength and compassion in our community of survivors and donors alike.
Gala 2017 – A Night in Havana
In just a few weeks, on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, SAFE will hold its annual Gala at the Hyatt Regency located in downtown Austin. This year’s theme is A Night in Havana.
We invite you to join us for this amazing night of history, energy, and music to celebrate the children at SAFE’s Children’s Shelter.
In addition to multiple musical stylings, we will award the 2017 Guardian Award to Ann Benolken for her work as a founding member of the Women of Hope and all her impressive support of both the Austin Children’s Shelter and SAFE.
That night we will also raffle off a Mercedes-Benz – the winner’s choice of a new C 300 Cabriolet or E 300 Sedan. Tickets for the raffle are $100 each or buy 10 tickets and get an 11th ticket free!
We hope to see you at A Night in Havana on Nov. 4!
