Illuminate Austin Walk

Illuminate Austin Walk for Safe Families 2015

After a considerable study and despite the valiant efforts of many, The SAFE Alliance has made the strategic business decision to discontinue our annual walk, Illuminate Austin, in 2017.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all those who’ve walked as survivors or in solidarity with survivors. Thank you, also, for honoring those who’ve been lost at the hands of violence in our community and beyond. Finally, thank you for helping SafePlace to raise essential funds to serve thousands of survivors and their families. We will never forget your dedication and passion, and we pledge to continue to honor survivors and those who’ve passed in all that we do.

We have plenty of ways for you to stay involved with us, and we sincerely hope you do so!  Please contact Lauren Zurbrugg at [email protected] if you are interested in SAFE’s events, or if you would like to suggest a new way of participating with us to forward our vision of a safe and just community.

Congratulations on your stellar achievement

Why Walk?

In 2014 there were 185,817 cases of domestic violence and 413,000 cases of sexual assault in Texas. Your presence at the walk shows survivors who are working to reclaim their lives that we all stand with them, and helps SafePlace raise essential funds for direct service, prevention, and education t programs. Thank you for joining us
