The holidays are an especially difficult time for survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. Starting their lives over can lead to great financial hardship and many families find themselves on the brink of homelessness with scarcely any resources at their disposal. SAFE has a few programs to help our clients take part in the joy and magic of the holiday season.
Austin Children’s Shelter Holiday Programs
Gift Card Drive
Gift Cards are a wonderful way to give to the children, youth, and families served by Austin Children’s Shelter. For many, of our kids, this is the first time going to the movies, bowling, enjoying food outings, or shopping for their own clothing. Gift card donations provide opportunities to empower young people, create positive memories and strengthen familial bonds. Additionally, gift cards for basic needs assist families in our prevention programs who are struggling to make ends meet. For families who aren’t sure how they are going to feed or clothe their kids, you can help alleviate some of their stresses and worries.
Please deliver or mail all gift cards to:
Austin Children’s Shelter
4800 Manor Road, Building A
Austin, Tx 78723

The holidays are a difficult time for the children, youth, and families fighting to heal from instances of abuse and neglect. Our Project Santa program fills the needs of children and families we serve both during the holiday season and beyond. Our staff and volunteers work hard to ensure these families, youth and children still have a warm and memorable holiday season through Project Santa

SafePlace Holiday Programs
Gift Card Drive
Gift cards allow clients to get exactly what they need in the correct size and amount. More than that, they provide a feeling of autonomy, choice, and control: things many of our clients have been denied for so long.

Sponsor a Family
Our Sponsor a Family
program matches you or your group with a family or individual who is a client at SafePlace. You are provided with a personal wish list to help you shop for families or individuals living in our transitional housing or whom we serve through our counseling program. Each family includes at least one SafePlace client. They may be women, men or children who are victims of sexual or domestic abuse. Due to our strict privacy and confidentiality policies, you will not meet the family you are sponsoring, but please be assured that our Holiday Program Coordinator personally hands them their gifts after you’ve delivered them to us.
Shop for the Shelter
Our Shop for the Shelter
program fills the needs of our shelter clients and families who will not be able to participate in the Sponsor A Family program due to time constraints. All donations collected for this program are displayed in the shelter, and our shelter clients pick gifts for their family members staying with us – parents pick for their children, and the kiddos get to pick for their parents. The need for this program is great and all donations are much appreciated.
If you aren’t a shopper but would like to help, we encourage you to donate gift cards in any amount so that our clients can buy groceries and other essentials, or take their family out for some much-needed fun with gift cards for movie tickets and restaurants.
