SAFE at Austin PRIDE! (NEW DATES FOR 2017)

Written by Sally Fussell

SAFE’s Foster and Adopt program is here to help children, without discrimination, join an open and loving family.

If you are attending this year’s Austin PRIDE, watch for our Foster and Adopt truck in the parade and stop by our SAFE booth during the festival!

Due to inclement weather, the PRIDE parade has been rescheduled to Sept. 30 and the PRIDE festival to Oct. 21.

About Foster and Adopt in Austin

All youth in the foster care system have experienced some form of trauma. LGBTQIA+ youth often face an added layer of trauma as a result of mistreatment and rejection because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

At Austin PRIDE, our community comes together to celebrate, educate, and connect in the name of inclusivity.

We are honored to be a part of PRIDE and to let LGBTQIA+ families know we are open to and able to grow their families through foster care and adoption. Inclusive behavior is mandatory for anyone entering our program.

Diversity is one of our guiding principles: We embrace the complexities of communities, recognize individual and cultural differences, and value the strength and wisdom that come from diverse voices.

Let us make happy homes come true for the children in our care. And let us raise the rainbow flag even higher!

If you’ve ever considered being a foster or adoptive parent, you can sign up for an orientation here.
