Vice President of Prevention and Community Services
Coni has 27 years of experience in the social services field, including 21 years with SAFE. She has worked in, or supervised, almost every direct service area at SAFE – starting out as volunteer services coordinator, she went on to work in emergency shelter, in the courts, lead transitional housing, and served extensively in the community. Coni is highly regarded for her expertise in domestic violence systems advocacy and Coni’s mantra: Violence is wrong. We can do better.
Currently, Coni provides leadership in Austin/Travis County through a number of community based task forces which focus on interpersonal violence and abuse; she previously served on the Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO) and the Basic Needs Coalition of Central Texas. In 2015 Coni traveled to Cairo, Egypt as part of an expert team to train government officials, prosecutors, and law enforcement on best practices for sexual assault prosecution. Coni has a B.A. in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, and an M.A. in Human Services, Psychological & Sociological Services from St. Edward’s University. A great day for Coni is when she feels she has supported her team – not only in helping them to better serve their clients, but to also help strengthen their own resilience.
