Chief Quality Officer/Director of DEAF SHARE

Wendie joined SAFE in 1998 as Director of Disability Services, and led the expansion of this program to a nationally- and internationally-recognized provider of best-practice training, resources, and publications for the disability, rape crisis, domestic violence and criminal justice fields. In 2009, Wendie assumed responsibilities as Chief Quality Officer for SAFE – and subsequently – where she is responsible for grant management, as well as compliance and performance reporting for more than 30 governmental grants.  In addition to reviewing and approving intra-agency agreements, MOUs, contracts and other documents, she also oversees the operation of SAFE’s Information Systems department and Deaf Services program.

Wendie has been a co-author or editor of numerous publications, serves as a member of national advisory and conference planning committees, and is a peer grant reviewer for multiple federal governmental agencies. A native of Houston, Wendi graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and is conversational in American Sign Language.  Her idea of a great day includes hearing a client success story, being certain that people experiencing abuse have safety options, and knowing that the team at SAFE is changing social norms and stereotypes.
