Cameron Brown y Paul Morin, amigos desde hace mucho tiempo y copropietarios de Einstein Moving Co., comprendieron por primera vez la prevalencia de la violencia doméstica en Austin gracias a un "truco para pequeñas empresas" que muchos nuevos negocios utilizan: desviar las llamadas telefónicas de la empresa a sus teléfonos móviles personales. "A menudo, el cliente se encuentra en un estado de ánimo angustioso y el riesgo asociado a una pareja potencialmente maltratadora hace que se requiera la aplicación de la ley, o al menos debería haberse hecho. No estábamos seguros de cómo manejar estas situaciones de forma segura y profesional", dijo Brown.

Luckily for Austin, Morin’s background in Management and Accounting and Brown’s background in Industrial Engineering meant that the two were well equipped to solve this uncertainty. The solution? A team-up with SAFE.

SAFE & Einstein Moving Co. Team-Up

The combination of SAFE and Einstein Moving Co. allows each to do what they do best: SAFE provides situational expertise and helps ensure proper protocols are followed in these situations, and Einstein Moving Co. can focus on efficiently moving families. Together, Einstein Moving Co. is offering to put their trucks to philanthropic use by providing four moves a month for individuals and families currently receiving services at SAFE who are relocating due to domestic violence and abuse.

These services are available to current SAFE clients who need to move items from a safe space (relative’s house, storage unit, etc.) to SAFE’s Emergency Shelter, SAFE’s Supportive Housing Program, or survivor’s new home. Current clients are encouraged to speak with their SAFE program staff if they need access to these services.

Keeping safety in mind for all those involved in the move, a SAFE staff member will be on-site with the movers at each location. “We have these massive trucks and we wanted to utilize them in a meaningful way. We had been using them to pick up toys for holiday drives for several years, but we kept thinking about those calls we would get in the middle of the night. This team-up seemed like a good way to help those who need use of our trucks and to ensure the safety of everyone involved,” said Morin.
