SAFE apoya "Un día sin mujeresEscrito por The SAFE Alliance
As an agency that empowers survivors of interpersonal violence and abuse, and advocates for women’s issues, SAFE supports all those who choose to participate in A Day Without a Woman on International Women’s Day.
At the same time, because we provide critical crisis services to families and individuals of all gender identities, we also encourage our staff to come to work on Marzo 8 so those services can continue uninterrupted.
We support A Day Without a Woman by assuring that those who are most in need of housing, healing, and support services at SAFE can count on us every day.
International Women’s Day
Miércoles, Marzo 8 is International Woman’s Day – a day when women, and allied men, stand in solidarity across the globe in recognition of women and their contributions.
As womenstrikeus.org describes the day of action:
“In the spirit of solidarity and internationalism, in the United States Marzo 8 will be a day of action organized by and for women who have been marginalized and silenced by decades of neoliberalism directed towards working women, women of color, Native women, disabled women, immigrant women, Muslim women, lesbian, queer and trans women.”
Many grassroots feminist organizations are proposing a strike. A Day Without A Woman. For women who are unable to leave their posts for the day, the organizers have proposed a second option, encouraging women and allies to wear red in solidarity.
SAFE provides vital services
As an organization created by women, a 90-percent female staff, and with roots and values inextricably tied to the feminist movement, we wholeheartedly support the vision and purpose for this day.
Still, we have a responsibility to the people we serve 24/7, 365 days a year. To that end, we are encouraging all SAFE staff to show up for work on Marzo 8, wearing red and standing in solidarity with women across the globe.
