National Teen Dating Violence Prevention and Awareness Month

Written by The SAFE Alliance

February is National Teen Dating Violence Prevention and Awareness Month, a time for talking about dating and relationships with young people in our lives.

21% of high school females and 10% of males who date have experienced physical and/or sexual dating violence, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Austin survivors, advocates, and elected officials recognized the importance of teen dating violence with proclamations from Travis County Commissioner’s Court on Feb. 13 and Austin City Council on Feb. 15.

Carolyn Moseley and Elizabeth Crescente, whose high school age daughters were tragically killed by former boyfriends, shared the impact of these crimes and called our community to action.
